The Fall

Life can feel like you’re walking on a tight-rope some days. Just balancing so that you don’t fall, holding it all together, maintaining your composure, ensuring that everything is in place, tick off that checklist, finish those jobs and then…..

    sometimes quite unexpectedly you just

    fall.

    And thats OK.

Admitting that you haven’t quite got it all together is probably a strength. Being real and vulnerable is considered a good thing these days and I think this comes easily to those who wear their heart on their sleeve. But it also means letting go of the pride that you had in the so called ‘having it all together’.

Over the years I have fallen off the tightrope more than once. It wasn’t what I wanted, but it happened. Falling hurts. It can be confusing and frustrating. Falling can cause you to question God and his purposes for your life, like… what was that all about anyway? You might have strange feelings of jealousy toward those who seem to be soaring on the highest of heights. This envy can start to fester into an ugly bitterness if you never deal with it, repent and learn to forgive yourself and others.

I am slowly learning that this fallen state can actually be a precious gift of time. Time to pause, to rest and live simply. To live only one day at a time. Gain new strength slowly and let go of the lofty goals and dreams right now. Just breathe and pray, and play! So for me, playtime is painting pictures, sipping hot cuppas and reading good books.

Matthew 11:28 Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
